Paultons Park is now my #1 Theme Park in the UK. Home to Peppa Pig World and some of my, now, favourite rollercoasters. Paultons really have won me over, carry on reading to understand why!
We drove all the way from East Croydon to Paultons Park after boarding trains from the other side of London to Croydon. As you can imagine, this was tiring to say the least. After over 1 hour and 45 minutes of continuous driving, we reached the main attraction itself. McDonalds. Only kidding, although we did stop before and had a bite to eat before entering the park in McDonalds!
As you approach the entrance, there is a huge, and when I mean huge, I mean BIIIIIG, Paultons Park sign. Driving towards the car park, there are multiple signs posted in the grass advertising the fact that it is home to Peppa Pig World. If you didn't already know!
Once we had parked and gotten ourselves prep'd for the day, we headed towards the admission gates under flag poles with a good few Paultons Park Season Pass adverts on them. Reaching the end of this pathway (around 30m), you are greeted by a spectacular waterfall tree. You could hear the sound of the water splashing whilst walking up the pathway. Once you have passed the waterfall tree, behold the GIANT Paultons Park logo. This is one of the most iconic and most recognisable features of Paultons Park.
Staff are on foot patrols, smiling and greeting guests whilst also handing out maps/guides of the park. This really lets off a 'we care' factor from the park. The staff at the admissions gates are just as friendly and really make the day set off on the right foot. Again, more staff when you enter, making sure you are happy and have an awesome day! This, for me, is essential in a theme park. It really shows that the park management team and general staff team care about their guests!
Now We've Entered...
So now we have entered the park and WOW. The amount of scenery around you is just overwhelmingly amazing. The gardens and its architecture is just WOW!!! In front of you is a fountain, again giving a nice free vibe to the park.
So the first place we headed to is the gardens, something I highly recommend. The gardens are open and offer a great place for photography or, if you have children with you, somewhere for children to go and burn off some steam before venturing the park.
Also in the gardens, is animal enclosures. Mainly birds. As like most gardens and parks, there is also the wildlife in which add a sense of freedom to the park.
The gardens offer a wide range of views. A stream runs around the gardens, with small bridges to cross and rock waterfalls to see. It is really is extraordinary. There is a key bit of theming in the gardens. This is an Asian, almost Chinese theme. With a classic red Chinese hut, red and brown board bridges, a gong and carved stones.
The Gardens and park well-being
Even though it is a theme park, I feel as if Paultons Park has so much more to offer than rides. The gardens and scenery is, in my opinion, way more valuable than the rides themselves. Now before you bite my head off and say But Dylan, rides are what makes a theme park and theme park, let me explain.
As well as the rides, the overall feel of the park needs to be good otherwise it is no longer attractive and enjoyable. Now, obviously the rides at a park are a huge factor of the park itself, I also feel as if the surroundings have a huge role in whether or not a park is attractive and worth the visit.
At Paultons, they take great care over the gardens, and overall cleanliness of the park. They ensure that the park is impeccable. Throughout the day, we picked up on the well-being of the plants and hedges. These being trimmed precisely and carefully to assure that guests are attracted to them. Around the park, grass models of animals can be found standing elegant. These really add to the parks theming.
The Rides and their themes
The rides at Paultons are AMAZING to say the least. Some of my, now, favourite rides stand proud at this park.
The overall theme to Paultons Park is dinosaurs and obviously Peppa Pig. Coming in 2020 is a newly themed area to America, Tornado Springs to be precise. Most of the rides, in fact the majority of the rides are themed around the dino-ages. Queue lines are rocky, and filled with prehistoric theming. Dinosaurs are dotted around the queue lines and park. These dinosaurs are not statues but animatronics. They roar and move! Great piece of theming!
The ride restraints on all the coasters are lap-bars with(or without) seatbelts and this is the same throughout the park on most of the flat rides. This really enables you to get the most out of the rides and not be restricted whilst on the ride. Personally, this is my favourite type of restraint!
As well as two thrill-seeking rollercoasters, there are a variety of family friendly coasters and flat rides, some more thrilling than others. The rides are heavily themed and are quite amazing, if I do say so myself.
Peppa Pig World
Paultons Park is home to Peppa Pig World and it is mainly known for this. I cannot think of any reason not to visit this section of the park! Even if you are an adult and on your own without children!
The area is heavily themed around Peppa Pig, obviously. And, if like me, you know Peppa Pig quite well, you'll find it hilariously funny to find that the buildings and house are on hills, just as like the TV programme. This gives adults a good laugh!
Around Peppa Pig World, you can find various characters from the show doing their typical daily thing. Mr Bull and his team are digging up the road, as per usual. The funniest thing about Mr Bull's section is that Paultons really have made it look like he's dug up the road and hit a pipe. Even water comes spilling out of the pipe!
Throughout Peppa Pig World, the theme song can be heard playing EVERYWHERE. It really is amazing. The, debatably, most well known theme song is a great addition to the area.
In addition to all of this, you are able to not only view the outside of the houses, but go inside of them! Inside of each house, there is a scene playing with the appropriate characters. The houses inside are themed to the show with photo frames containing various photos from different episodes in them. It is a really nice addition to the area.
Each ride in Peppa Pig World is also heavily themed to a certain character/episode. It is really nice to see that each ride is uniquely themed in its own way. For example, the Queen's Magical Coach Ride, is themed to a castle. The whole queue line is a castle and it is maintained throughout the attraction.
In my opinion, Peppa Pig World is far beyond genius and I really enjoyed experiencing a few of the many attractions in the area. Unfortunately, we were unable to experience some as we were not small enough! (age+heigh restrictions apply, see website for details)
Snacks, Drinks and MealS
Right, before I set off about everything in detail, I just want to say that Paultons serve THE BEST food I have ever had a theme park.
Now that is out of the way, Paultons have a wide variety to offer food and beverage wise on park. Like most theme parks, they have their own stores in which serves fast food type food. Burgers, hot dogs, chips and that kind of food. Yet they also have a restaurant just past the entrance of the park. We did not eat in here however, I have been told that it is just as amazing as the fast food places.
Price wise, the food was generally cheap for what you get. It was extremely filling! Leah and I grabbed ourselves a burger meal deal in which came with a cheese burger, chips and a drink; I also grabbed myself an iced slush which was a treat! The food was really nice actually. I wasn't expecting anything amazing but after eating it, we both agreed that it was actually really nice and extremely filling.
Around the park there are various places to eat. Near every food and beverage store is a picnic area full of benches. We also stumbled across a huge grass area with very little benches. This is perfect for on-the-ground picnics and allowing children to run wild after eating too much sugar!
After visiting Paultons Park, I would safely say that it will not be my last. I enjoyed the park's overall theming and vibe.
To conclude, I have labelled Paultons Park as my #1 Theme Park. As you can tell from the above, there is many reasons behind why I have labelled it as this. It now holds a special place in my heart!
